What I'm wondering is why despite having the incomplete path, the job as saved by the settings' file still worked fine? But when I wanted to run the restored backup job the error message was about the destination path being incorrect, since it lacked the needed profile's folder name.

When I manually restored the profile's content from one of the backup locations, it was saved into a "Firefox-BK" folder, which had all the respective files, but without them being saved into a "fault" kind of folder, but all into the "Firefox-BK" folder itself. "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles" "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\fault\"īut to my surprise, the job saved into the settings file had a different destination path, like this: But the weird issue showed up when I went to fix the job's destination path: The thing is, when I restored the settings file and wanted to run the job, there was an error message about an invalid "source" path being used and that was correct, since the when I installed the Firefox in the new system, it generated a new profile folder, with a new random name. Basically, there was a specific job within such file, which does a backup from a Firefox profile folder this folder has a randomly generated name, which designates a particular user. Of course he has the right to do whatever he wants with his product, but I don't think that his attitude towards the testers is the nicest one.Aug 07, 2019Hi, recently I had to use the "bvckup2-settings.zip" file to restore jobs to a new Bvckup2 installation, and although the process itself went fine, there was some weird issue I'm still wondering how could it been possible.

I am sure the author is getting a lot of useful information by the testers about bugs and crashes and yet he is not willing to give even these Beta releases for free with no limitations.

#BVCKUP 3 LICENSE#

So it means this is not exactly freeware, freeware means no restrictions, no registrations, no license keys, total freedom of use, and this is not the case here.

#BVCKUP 3 REGISTRATION#

For example, if I re-install Windows and meanwhile Bvckup has become shareware, I won't be able to use the old Beta version again, because after installation the program requests obtaining an registration key from the server which I would not be able to get after Bvckup becomes shareware. The author of this application says that "The beta is free, it has no restrictions or limitations and the beta license is non-expiring.", but is that true? I don't think so. While executing the backup it does not show which files will be synchronized- it shows only the number of entries to be written in the destinatiion directory. It still misses some features- for example it cannot compare two directories before any backup task is performed. But it still needs a lot of work- it is a bit unstable, while uninstalling it crashed Explorer so I got my Quick Launch icons re-arranged and the uninstall process was a slow one (I tested it on XP SP3). NET Framework (I stopped using PureSync because of that), it is fast. It has a nice, clean and simple GUI, which is quite rare nowadays, it is not written in. Bvckup has the potential of becoming a very good backup application.
